What’s There to Do in Nashville? MARCH

As a Nashville native, I’ve been asked this question a lot. Nashville offers so many great events in music, art, culture, and annual festivals that I’ve decided to highlight monthly events here. Get out and do something different, you’ll be happy you did!

39 Steps

Throughout the month…Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), 505 Deaderick Street, Nashville, TN / Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have The 39 Step, a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre! This two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers, and some good old-fashioned romance!

Art galleries throughout town stay open late on the first Thursday of every month. Come out after work and experience the burgeoning arts scene in Nashville.
Visit nashvilleartdealers.com/artafterhours for details on participating galleries and shows.

March 5, 2011

Many galleries reserve openings for this night each month. Browse art in the Arcade and across Nashville as you weave in and out of exhibits, meet the artists and enjoy a night on the town complete with food and drinks.
Visit nashvilledowntown.com for more information on participating galleries and the free shuttle map

Friday, March 4…Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC), 505 Deaderick Street, Nashville, TN /As fans await his third release, INTIMACY, hit singles from other albums continue to receive regular airplay, proving KEM is truly an artist for the ages. KEM has added the Grammy-nominated artist and iconic soul superstar Musiq Soulchild as a Special Guest for this tour. Musiq alongside Ledisi, will replace the previously mentioned El DeBarge for this tour. El DeBarge will not be on tour, due to personal reasons.

Salt-N-Pepa’s Legends of Hip Hop Tour

Friday, March 18, 2011…the show will include Salt_N-Pepa, Whodini, Doug E Fresh, and Biz Markie. This will be held at the Municipal Auditorium and begins at 8pm.

Nashville Blues Festival

Mainstreet Brew Fest

Historic Downtown Franklin celebrates St. Patrick’s Day early on Saturday, March 12th with the Franklin Main Street Brew Fest. Tickets are $35 and include tastings of more than 50 beers in the Main Street shops from 6 to 9 p.m. Main Street is closed to vehicle traffic but free and open to pedestrian traffic with most shops and restaurants open throughout the event. Visit http://www.historicfranklin.com/events/feile-franklin for more info.

One of my personal faves! Mixology will be held at the Country Music Hall of Fame this year on March 25th (6pm-10pm). Featuring music, art, fashion, cocktails, and cuisine, this event also helps different charities by donating a portion of the proceeds. One of the coolest parts…you get to choose which charity you want your money to go to!
