First Saturday Art Crawl

Saturday, April 2…Visit Downtown Nashville from 6pm-9pm as many galleries will open their doors for a free viewing. This event is held the first Saturday of each month.


Friday, April 1-Sunday, April 5…Tennessee Performing Arts Center, 505 Deaderick Street, Nashville, TN / What began as a musical about cats after Andrew Lloyd Webber picked up a book of poems in an airport bookshop has become one of the longest running shows in Broadway’s history. Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, CATS features 20 of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless melodies, including the hit song, “Memory.”Visit Downtown Nashville from 6pm-9pm as many galleries will open their doors for a free viewing. Thursday, April 14…Nashville Municipal Auditorium, 417 4th Avenue North, Nashville, TN / The legendary Harlem Globetrotters come to Nashville to perform their famous basketball exhibitions.

The Shade Tree Trot, Vanderbilt Medical School’s 3nd Annual Charity 5k

Saturday, April 9…Vanderbilt University Campus, Starting at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville / Sponsored by Vanderbilt Medical School™’s Advisory College Program and organized by medical students, the Shade Tree Trot is an annual charity 5k race through Vanderbilt’s campus to benefit The Shade Tree Clinic, which serves hundreds of uninsured patients in East Nashville. The Trot culminates yearly fundraising efforts to provide financial support for Shade Tree™’s growing operating expenses and aims to raise awareness of The Clinic throughout the community. Nashville Film Festival presented by Nissan

Thursday, April 14-Thursday, April 21…Regal Green Hills Stadium 16/ This marks the 42nd year for the NFF. This year’s line-up includes three films nominated for Academy Awards in 2011: Live-Action (Short) winner “God of Love” by American director Luke Matheny; “The Gruffalo,” by U.K. director Barney Goodland and “You Too (Na Wewe)” by Ivan Goldschmidt, filmed in Burundi and Belgium. Also included are “Umshini Wam,” by Nashville-based director Harmony Korine; “The Terrys,” by “Adult Swim” creators Tim Heidecker & Eric Wareheim; and “All Flowers in Time” by “Tarnation” director Jonathan Caouette.

Summer Fest

Friday, April 22…Gaylord Opryland Resort/This is the kickoff to Opryland’s Summerfest. Every Thursday through Sunday for the entire summer Summerfest will have a wide variety of activities going on to entertain one and all. Whether its dining, live music or playing with your children, you’re sure to stay entertained throughout the entire summer.

Nashville Earth Day Festival

The 12th Annual Country Music Marathon & 1/2 Marathon

Monday, April 28-Wednesday, April 30…Nashville Convention Center/Offering the best in nutrition, running gear, interactive expert clinics and more. The expo is free and open to the public. Dates & Times: Thursday, April 28th – 11:00 am – 6:00 pm and on Friday, April 29th from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. (Note: The ING KiDS ROCK Nashville event is SOLD OUT) The 12th annual Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon is set to hit the streets of Nashville on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Featuring many of Nashville’s best live bands on 28 stages along the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses, the musically themed road race is expected to attract 35,000 runners, walkers and junior racers.
