Tips for YOUR best Reception

Wedding day is about love, unity, family, and friends. A big part of the day is also the celebration. Many couples and guests look forward to the wedding reception. Not only is this a time to kick back and have fun, it serves as an indicator of the couple’s (read bride’s) style. Planning the ultimate reception starts with focusing in on what really matters to you and coming up with realistic ways to accomplish those aspects.  Here are some tips on planning your best reception.

1. To hire a planner or not to hire a planner…This decision will play a major part in the planning and execution of your wedding day. Not to say that you have to make this decision right after the engagement (although that would be nice), but it is a very real question you have to ask. A planner is there to listen to your dream and do the leg work to bring it to fruition. If you decide to go it on your own, that’s perfectly fine too and better for those that want to be in full control of their day.

2. Set your budget and stick to it…Sitting down as a couple (or with others if they are helping to finance your day) is important and should be done early into the planning phase. Making realistic goals is the first step to having the reception you’ll love. No dream is unattainable…although some require modifications…but knowing your budget helps in making it a reality.

3. Who, what, when, where, how…Time, location, number of people, and date have a huge bearing on the type of receptions you’ll be having. From this, you’ll be able to determine the food, music, and entertainment much easier. To many guests, those are the three most important aspects to any reception.

4. Be true to you two…At the end of the day, you want to have a reception that is true to you as a couple. Do you want your reception to tell your love story? Find the best way to do that by creating a list of memorable moments you’ve had together. Then, create a list of what you need and what you want in seperate categories to bring that story and those moments to life for your guest.

5. Make sure you have a great team of vendors…You want to have a team you can trust. With this, you sometimes really have to go with your instincts. If a missed meeting or lack of communication early on doesn’t sit well with you, it may be time to sever ties. Finding the best vendors for you means finding a fit. All vendors are not created equal…I don’t mean one is greater than the other either. Find the vendor that speaks to your vision and expectations. *Don’t skimp on the photographer and videographer. You want to remember that day so ensure you’ve got really good people capturing those moments.*

All Love…All the Time
